Le Gosier is a commune in Guadeloupe, on the south side of the island of Grande-Terre and part of the urban unit of Pointe-à-Pitre-Les Abymes. There are 26,500 inhabitants on 45.2 km².
The name of Gosier (in French gosier = gullet, back of the throat) comes from that of the pelican called, in the 17th century, "grand-gousier" because of the importance of its beak and its throat pouch.

The flag of Le Gosier (photo) is white with the logo, with a lighthouse and the silhouette of a pelican.
