Qaasuitsup (Kalaallisut: Qaasuitsup Kommunia) was a new municipality in
Greenland, created on 1 January 2009. The administrative center of the
municipality is in Ilulissat (formerly called Jakobshavn). The municipality
consists of the former municipalities of western and northern Greenland:
Aasiaat,
Kangaatsiaq, Ilulissat, Qaanaaq, Qasigiannguit, Qeqertarsuaq, Uummannaq, and
Upernavik.
The municipality is located in northwestern Greenland. It is the largest
municipality in the world by area, even larger than France.

The municipality was dissolved in 2018 when it was partitioned into two new
municipalities, Avannaata and Qeqertalik.
