According to its website, the club was thought to have existed since the
1930s, but then an entry was found in Brighton and Hove Library services
entitled ‘Brighton Sailing Club Minutes book 1872-1934’. The club was listed in
‘Flags and Signals of All Nations’, c1873, by Hounsell Brothers. The ensign was
probably unauthorised, as I have found no other references to it.
