Montefiore & Anchaid was one of the several French shipping companies involved in wine trade in the 1960s. Most of these companies shipped low-quality wine from Algeria to France in tankers known as pinardiers (from pinard, a colloquial word for "wine"). They did not survive the independence of Algeria and the decrease of low-quality wine consumption.

In their book Les navires citernes français : des origines à nos jours (2000), P. Bois and H. Pedersen shows the house flag of Montefiore & Anchaid as white with a red cross and the black letters "M" and "A" in the first and fourth quarters, respectively.
