The Société industrielle, commerciale et maritime Bordeaux-Maroc "Bordeaux-Maroc", registered in Paris, is known by its share. The year of release is, unfortunately, not really readable. The
company for sure operated ships between the port of Bordeaux and Morocco.
The "Bordeaux-Maroc" company is mentioned as having supported in 1921
the set up of the Niger Committee, a lobbying organism promoting the economic development of the French Western Africa (see Babacar Fall, Le travail forcé en Afrique Occidentale française, 1900-1946. Karthala, 1984).
On the MarocAntan website, Naguib Abdellah explains the historical link between Bordeaux and Morocco. Sea trade between Bordeaux and Casablanca was increased in the beginning of the 20th century by the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer d'Orléans (the railway company that owned of the Paris-Bordeaux line), whicj opened an office in Casablanca, in partnership with the powerful Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.
In 1913, the Stoffel & Porge company, selling Bordeaux table wine,
settled in Casablanca, followed by several other companies that took
part to the French-Moroccan Exhibition, held in Casablanca in 1915.
Most Moroccan soldiers and civilians serving in France during the
First World War landed to Bordeaux, so that the leave to France was
nicknamed departure to "l'Bordo".
Crown Prince Hassan II defended his Ph.D. thesis in Bordeaux, in the
presence of his father, King Mohammed V, and of the Mayor of Bordeaux,
Jacques Chaban-Delmas. After the independence, the towns of Bordeaux
and Casablanca became twin towns, while the French education
institutes in Morocco are still administratively ran from Bordeaux.
Last but not least, the famous Moroccan footballer Si Abdesslam played
for the "Girondins de Bordeaux" and for the French national team. When
introduced to President of the Republic René Coty before an
international match in 1954, Abdesslam asked him to solve some
political problems in Morocco, including the exile of Mohammed V.
