Val-d'Issoire (1,000 inhabitants in 2021; 7,160 ha) is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department.
The municipality was established on 1 January 2016 and
consists of the former communes of Bussière-Boffy (300 inhabitants) and
Mézières-sur-Issoire (800 inhabitants).
From September 1939 to the summer of 1940, Mézières-sur-Issoire (and also Vaulry and
Saint-Martial-sur-Isop) welcomed the inhabitants (more than 1800) evacuated
from the Alsatian town of Seltz, located on the banks of the Rhine. Mézières-sur-Issoire is twinned with Seltz and an avenue is named Avenue de Seltz.

Six masts can be seen near the town hall of Mézières-sur-Issoire, with, before 2016, the flags of France, EU, Limousin regional council, Haute-Vienne
department, Seltz and Mézières-sur-Issoire.
The flag of Mézières remained unchanged after the creation of Val-d’Issoire. The flag of Limousin in use before 2016 was replaced by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine flag.

The flag of Mézières-sur-Issoire is white with the municipal emblem, a golden medal with a scenery of the village (sheeps in the streets, the church Sainte-Marie-Madeleine...): photo (2021), photo (2016), photo (2016). It was still in use after the creation of Val-d’Issoire.
