The flag of Venansault (photo) is white with the municipal logo, which features the silhouette of the St. Peter church.
First mentioned around 1080, the church was designed in Romanesque style, the choir and apse dating to the 11th century. The church was subsequently completed with a gate dated to the 12th century and a tower designed in "Benedictine" style.
During the War in the Vendée, the militia from Venansault joined the first uprising in August 1792 and contributed to the seizure of La Roche-sur-Yon on 14 March 1793. Venansault was burned down on 6 February 1794 during the fierce repression of the uprising. The church was subsequently repaired by the inhabitants of the village. In 1813, Emperor Napoléon offered 300,000 francs fur the repairing of buildings destroyed during the war; Venansault was granted 800 francs to completely restore the church.
