Villefranche-sur-Saône (31,213 inhabitants), the former capital of
Beaujolais, is located on the river Saône, 30 km north of Lyon.
The rowing club Aviron Union Nautique Villefranche (AUNV, website) was founded in
1906. Its most famous member is Frédéric Dufour, silver medalist in the
Olympic Games of Athens in 2004. The burgee of the club is horizontally divided in four triangular stripes white-green-red-white with the French national flag in canton.
