Laudun is one of the communes producing Côtes du Rhône Villages wines, red, rosé and white.
The history of Laudun begins after the oppidum was abandoned at the end of the 6th century AD. The first vestiges of the Middle Ages (11th-12th centuries) can be seen on the Sainte-Foy hill where sections of the feudal castle walls remain. The town then developed towards the plain with a second series of fortifications against which stood the Gothic church of Notre-Dame-la-Neuve (first half of the 14th century). Laudun, a rich commune, was a possession of the lords of Laudun. Mills installed along the Tave river testify to the economic activity linked to this river. However, the town essentially drew its wealth and its fame from the cultivation of the vine.
Formerly Laudun, the commune was rename Laudun-l'Ardoise in 2001.
