The municipality of Cervione (2,196 inhabitants in 2018; 1,145 ha) is located in eastern Corsica, 50 km south of Bastia.
Cervione's hinterland is the Castaniccia, a wet region on the slopes of Monte San Petrone (1767 m), the highest top of the schistosous Corsican mountains. Cervione is home to the St. Erasmus cathedral, which was completed in 1745 in Baroque style.
Olivier Touzeau, 3 September 2020
The flag of Cervione, as seen in August 2020 in the village, is a banner of the municipal arms, "Or an eagle gules a broken chain sable", surmounted by the municipality's name above; the French "Un balcon sur la mer" (A Balcony on the Sea) is added below. On the coat of arms, the Latin motto reads "In Te Domine Speravi" (I put my Trust in You, Lord).
