Naviera Peninsular was established in the 1970s by the Acha and Churruca Arellano families. The company started with three sister-ships. In 1974, the Churruca brothers left to form Naviera Churruca Hermanos, keeping one of the three ships and leaving the two other ones to the Acha family, then sole owner of Naviera Peninsular.
The company acquired in 1982 Naviera Pasai and its two ships, and was eventually wind up in 1987.
