The emblem is colloquially known as rokiski, due to the fact that Madrilenian engraver Luis Rokiski made the metal versions of the emblem to be used in uniforms, which he marked on the back with his surname.

A few days before (11th July) the Air Force emblem had been adopted with a mural crown replacing the 1927 royal crown, but this was modified again – removing the mural crown – so soon that most probably no flag was manufactured with such short-lived emblem. The emblem was modified once more in 1936, after the beginning of the civil war, changing the design of the wings and with a red star on top of them.
