Symbols of Santa Clara de Avedillo

The flag and arms of Santa Clara de Avedillo are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 5 February 2004 by the Municipal Council, signed on 29 March 2004 by the Mayor, and published on 16 April 2004 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 72, p. 5,185 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Formed with the colors of the coat of arms, with three equal transversal stripes and the coat of arms in the middle.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1a. Per fess azure a star or or a crescent inverted azure, 1b. Gules a bishop's mitre argent adorned purpure, 2. Vert sinister a Santo Cristo del Humilladera chapel dexter the fountain of the former Roman villa [Crown not mentioned].

The star and the moon symbolize the Avedillo family, founders of the village, then named Avedillo.
The bishop's mitre symbolizes the Bishop of Zamora, subsequent owner of the village, which was granted a charter in 1176.
The Santo Cristo del Humilladera chapel and the Roman fountain are main components of the local history.
