The village was once known as El Molar de San Esteban, referring to a
grain mill.

The flag and arms of San Esteban del Molar (uofficial blog) are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 27 April 2006 by the Municipal Council, signed on the same
day by the Mayor, and published on 17 May 2006 in the official gazette
of Castilla y León, No. 94, p. 9,338 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3, made of a white panel with a red cross throughout, of 1/5 the hoist, on the intersection of the cross' arms a red circular crown.
Coat of arms: Gules a mill wheel argent orled with two palms or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The coat of arms must be a rebus of the village name, the martyr's palms recalling St. Stephen (San Esteban) and the wheel a mill (molar).
