Symbols of Bocigas

The flag and arms of Bocigas are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 28 April 2014 by the Municipal Council, signed on 12 November 2014 by the Mayor, and published on 24 November 2014 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 226, pp. 79,451-79,452 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: In proportions 2:3, purple; in the center of the panel, the municipal coat of arms in full colours.
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Gules a heron argent beaked and armed or surrounded by two rushes or on waves azure and argent, a chief azure charged with seven eight-pointed stars or placed 4 and 3. A bordure compony of 16 pieces in turn gules a castle or and argent a lion purpure crowned or. The shield surmounted with the Spanish Royal crown.

The search for municipal symbols was initiated in 2011, when the Government of the Province of Valladolid decided to publish a book on the history of Bocigas. The Municipal Councillor Ángel Pedrosa initiated the administrative process, but his unexpected death postponed the project for a while.
The coat of arms, designed by Félix Martínez Llorente, was officially unveiled on 28 August 2011, during the village's cultural week. The charges recall that Bocigas is a wet place: the heron, rushes and waves represent the two small lakes located close to the village. The stars in the chief represent the seven municipalities forming the Olmedo district.
