The municipality of Yeles (5,164 inhabitants in 2018; 2,033 ha; municipal website) is located on the border with the Community of Madrid, 50 km north-east of Toledo.
Yeles was established by the Celtiberians at the confluence of rivers Guatén and Bohadilla. The town was first mentioned in a donation made in 1188 to the church of Toledo by King Alfonso VIII.
The etymology of the town's name is obscure. Some say that Yeles was named for hielos, "bitter", because of the taste of the local water. Other call the Germanic word agelus, "a field". Another hypothesis related Yeles to hielo, "frost".

photo) is prescribed by an Order issued on 10 February 2003 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 24 February 2003 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 24, p. 2,693 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Composed of two equal, parallel horizontal stripes, the upper, red, the lower, green. A triangle runs from the hoist to the flag's center; here is placed the coat of arms of the town.
The coat of arms of Yeles is prescribed by an Order issued on 10 February 2003 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 24 February 2003 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 24, p. 2,693 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules (red) a Mozarab cross or centered, 2. Azure (blue) an archbishop's cross or trefoiled centered. Grafted in base, vert (green) a bunch of grapes or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
