The municipality of Burguillos de Toledo (3,002 inhabitants in 2014, 2,849 ha; municipal website) is located 10 km of Toledo.
Burguillos was first documented in the 13th century, as Borguiellas. The name of the town is derived from Lower Latin or Visigoth burgus, meaning "a small fortified settlement, village, borough or tower". Burguillos was probably established by inhabitants of Toledo who owned vineyards there; Burguillos has been known for ages as "Toledo's wine cellar", the local wines being privileged by King Charles I.

The flag of Burguillos de Toledo, adopted on 27 March 2014 by the
Municipal Council, is prescribed in a Decree adopted on 18 May 2015 by
the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 27 May 2015 in the
official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 102, p. 16,689 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular panel, 1.5 longer than wide (2:3), yellow with a greeen border in heraldic proportions (1:6). In the center, an hexagonal wall with red angle towers.
The flag has been used for years on a regular basis, but without completing the official process of approval. On 27 March 2014, the Municipal Council approved the proposal submitted by Ventura Leblic, a member of the Royal Academy of Literature and Historical Sciences of Toledo. The flag uses the main colours of the municipal coat of arms, highlighting the origin, identity and history of the place, as described in the supporting memoir.
