The municipality of Zorita de la Frontera (232 inhabitants in 2009;
3,213 ha) is located in the northwest of the Salamanca Province, 60 km from Salamanca.
Zorita might be an Arabic toponym meaning "a blue dove". The frontier
alluded in the village's name was the border between the kingdoms of
Castile and León in the 12th-13th centuries.

The flag and arms of Zorita de la Frontera are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 26 August 2008 by the Municipal Council, signed on 18
September 2008 by the Mayor, and published on 26 September 2008 in the
official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 187, p. 19,070 (text).
The symbols are described
as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of two equal vertical stripes, white with a red lion rampant, armed and crowned in yellow, at hoist, and blue with an eradicated yellow pine at fly.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Argent a lion rampant gules armed and crowned or, 2. Azure a pine eradicated or. The shield surmounted with a Royal Crown closed.
The flag is therefore a banner of the municipal arms. The arms date back to 1238, when King Alfonso the Wise granted the title of "Muy Leal" (Very Loyal) to the town, for it support against the rebellion of his son Sancho.
