Symbols of San Cristóbal de la Cuesta

The flag of San Cristóbal de la Cuesta (photo, Town Hall), designed by Luis M. Hernández Olivera, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 12 May 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 18 May 2001 by the Mayor and published on 31 May 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 105, p. 8,501 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1, blue with a golden chevron.

The coat of arms of San Cristóbal de la Cuesta, designed by Luis M. Hernández Olivera, is "Azure a chevron or surrounded in chief by two wheat spikes of the same in base by a vase argent decorated with lilies of the same. The shield surmounted with the Royal Spanish crown."
These arms are "tropologic", that is, showing elements recalling the name, economical activities or natural resources of the place. The chevron represents the local topography, the village being located on a height, as said in the village's name (cuesta, "a slope"). The wheat spikes represent the main economical activity of the village. The vase and lilies are the arms of the Chapter of the Salamanca Cathedral, once owner of the village.

The colors of the flag are taken from the municipal coat of arms; rather than showing the municipal coat of arms on the flag, the designer kept only the most representative charge of the arms.
