Presentation of Fuente de Pedro Naharro

The municipality of Fuente de Pedro Naharro (1,212 inhabitants in 2018; 6,370 ha) is located on the border with the Province of Toledo, 90 km west of Cuenca and 10 km south of Tarancón.
Fuente de Pedro Naharro was named, as reported in Philip II's Relaciones for a farm established near a fountain (fuente) by Pedro Naharro. The village was probably re-settled at the end of the 12th century by the Order of Saint James and incorporated to Uclés. Fuente de Pedro Naharro was granted the status of villa in 1535 by Charles V.

Symbols of Fuente de Pedro Naharro

The flag and arms of Fuente de Pedro Naharro are prescribed by an Order issued on 25 March 1992 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 1 April 1992 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 25, p. 1,289 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, diagonally divided from the upper hoist to the fly's lower angle. In agreement with the colors of the arms, the upper part is white and the lower, blue with a white fountain.
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1. Azure a fountain argent, 2. Argent the cross-sword of Saint James gules. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History validated the proposed arms, but changed the colors of the first quarter, deemed "inadequate" and substituted by colors more compliant with reality and traditional uses. The first quarter alludes to the toponym - a fountain for fuente -, while the second quarter features the modern emblem of the Order of Saint James, founder of the town.
The Academy approved the proposed flag without further comment.
