The municipality of Guijo de Galisteo (1,513 inhabitants in 2019; 6,228 ha) is located 89 km north of Cáceres and 25 km north-east of Coria. The municipality is composed of the villages of Guijo de Galisteo (338 inh.), Valrío (371 inh.) and El Batán (804 inh.).

The flag and arms of Guijo de Galisteo, adopted on 10 February 1997 by the Municipal Council and validated on 16 July 1997 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 26 September 1997 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 6 November 1997 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 129, pp. 7,673-7,674 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of two equal horizontal stripes, the upper green and the lower blue. Charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Vert a pebble [guijarro] or flamed gules fimbriated or, 2. Gules two caldrons checky or and sable with snake's heads as handles in pale. Grafted in base, Or three roundels vert 1 and 2. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
