Flag of Aldeacentenera

The flag (photo, photo) and coat of arms of Aldeacentenera, adopted on 18 February 1992 by the Municipal Council and validated on 15 September 1992 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 29 September 1992 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 8 October 1992 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 79, pp. 2,249-2,250 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular. Yellow, charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Or a rye [centeno] spike vert, 2. Argent a Vetton rider and horse gules. A bordure gules four castles or in chief in base and on the flanks. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The rye (centeno) spike makes the arms canting, the place name meaning "the rye-producing village".
The second quarter features the "Vetton warrior" (photo) found in La Coraja, exhibited in the Cáceres Archeological Museum.

La Coraja was the first Celtiberian site excavated in Extremadura (1984-1996). The site is surrounded by two walls, one surrounding the fortified settlement, and the other one, smaller, surrounding the acropolis. The settlement was composed of huts not bigger than 4-5 m x 3-4 m. Located in the upper part of a hill, in a place easy to defend and supplied with freshwater by the neighboring river Almonte and brook Moro, the settlement was inhabited by 400 to 500.
Funded by the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Extremadura and the Provincial Council of Cáceres, the excavations were performed in close partnership with the municipality of Aldeacentenera and its inhabitants.
