The municipality of Castildelgado (59 inhabitants in 2009; 495 ha; municipal website) is located 60 km of Burgos.
Castildelgado was originally named Villipún (10th century) / Villa de Pun; some four centuries ago, Viscount de Gil Delgado renamed the village Castildelgado (Delgado's Citadel). The citadel was indeed a main element of the defence line against the Muslim states and the other, rival Christian states.

The flag and arms of Castildelgado are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 25 April 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed the same day by the Mayor, and published on 10 May 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 88, pp. 6,251-6,252 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1. Red field charged with a blue bend fimbriated or, of 3/10 the flag's hoist. In the middle is placed the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Gules a bend azure fimbriated or three six-pointed, eight-pointed, and six-pointed stars of the same dexter a castle of Castile sinister in chief two scallops or and a lion rampant of the same langued and armed. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
The scallops recall that Castildelgado is located on the Way of St. James.
