The municipality of Trujillanos (1,387 inhabitants in 2019: 2,020 ha; municipal website) is located 75 km east of Badajoz and 10 km north-east of Mérida.
Trujillanos was established in 1327 by Vasco Rodríguez de Cornago, Grand Master of the Order of Saint James. The village was mostly re-settled by colonists coming from Trujillo.

The flag (photo) and arms of Trujillanos, adopted on 13 September 1993, 15 April and 24 November 1994 by the Municipal Council and validated on 21 January 1994 and 7 March 1995 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 19 April 1995 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 4 May 1995 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 52, pp. 1,786-1,787 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, composed of two horizontal stripes, the upper white and the lower red. Charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules a lion or crowned gules, 2. Or a bend sable superimposed by an arch gules. Grafted in base Argent fives crosses of Saint James. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
