The municipality of La Colilla (279 inhabitants in 2006; 1,100 ha; 1,117 m a.s.l.; municipal website) is located 7 km west of Ávila. The population of the village peaked to 500 inhabitants in the 1950s.

The flag and arms of La Colilla (images) are prescribed by a Decree adopted on
19 November 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed on 12 March 2003 by the
Mayor, and published on 28 March 2003 in the official gazette of Castile
and León, No. 60, p. 4,626 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, tierced at hoist. At fly, on a red or gules panel, six yellow or or rocks surmounted with a five-pointed argent star. At hoist red or gules a crenelated white or argent wall.
Coat of arms: Shield in Spanish shape. Gules, walls or port and windows azure surmounted with six rocks or ensigned with a star argent surrounded by a hammer and pick argent, on top and bottom, a terrace vert. The shield surmounted with the Royal Spanish crown.
The stones and tools recall the quarries of La Colilla, known since the Roman times. The stone of La Colilla was used to build the cathedral and city walls of Ávila. The walls may recall that La Colilla, located on a hill, was a strategic place protecting the town of Ávila. The star may represent the Blessed Virgin of Sonsoles, patron saint of the region of Ávila; the Sonsoles sanctuary, located 5 km from La Colilla, is the place of a yearly pilgrimage involving all the villagers.
