Presentation of Fiñana

The municipality of Fiñana (2,270 inhabitants in 2013; 13,500 ha; municipal website) is located just north of the motorway from Almería to Granada, on the border with the Granada Province, north of the Almería Alpujarras.
Fiñana originates in a Roman military cmp established by Lucius Alfenos Alfinianus. After the fall of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada, the town was disputed by the Muslims and the new settlers, until the expelling of the Moriscos in 1570 and the re-settlement by newcomers from the north of Spain.

The flag and arms of Fiñana, adopted on 18 December 2002 by the Municipal Council and validated on 24 July 2003 by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, are prescribed by Decree No. 264, adopted on 23 September 2003 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 14 October 2003 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 197, p. 21,564 (text).
