Francisco Gregoric - Buenos Aires - Argentina

Editors Flag   [FOTW giffers flag] Giffers Flag

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have been very interested in flags since an early age. However, my first "official" contact with vexillology as a discipline was around 1990 when I read a flag book written by William Crampton.

In the early 2000s, I started to look for information about flags and vexillology on Internet, and met Alberto Rubén Perazzo, founder of the Asociación Argentina de Vexilología (AAV). Soon after I became an AAV member. I also started to participate in some flags related Internet groups where I met a lot of flag enthusiasts from around the world. I am also member of the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA).

I like to draw flags, and a lot of my drawings have appeared in several books, magazines, vexillology bulletins and on the Internet.

  1. Flag of Argentina: I am very proud of making the illustration of my country´s flag for FOTW. This drawing follows the official model adopted in 2010 by National Decree.
  2. Flag of Jujuy Province: My first Argentine provincial flag used on FOTW.
  3. City of Salta 1813: (reconstructed) This flag was raised in the city of Salta in 1813. It was the first time this flag was ever drawn. I was able to draw it thanks to information provided by Rodolfo Aredes from Salta.
  4. Uruguay´s Presidential Sash: Back in 2004 I drew these images of the Uruguayan Presidential Sash that became the model for other images of presidential sashes on FOTW.
  5. Mendoza Province Coat of Arms: I used an original 1942 image as a model for this drawing.
  6. Historical flag raised by Juan Facundo Quiroga, made by the Ladies of Mendoza: I used a photo of the original flag that is preserved at the National Museum of History as a model for this image.
