The parish of La América is located in the south of Manabí Province. La
América is composed of 33 settlements split into three elevation zones (Upper,
Central, Lower) and of 17 communities.
The parish of La América was
established by Executive Agreement No. 118, issued on 27 July 1948, forming the
6th rural parish of Jipijapa canton.

The flag of La América is horizontally divided green-red-yellow with a white
triangle placed along the hoist and charged with two cropping tools crossed in
saltire.
