Background

The Consejo Nacional de Drogas (CND - National Drug Council) was established by Article 19 of Law No. 50 (On Drugs and Controlled Substances in the Dominican Republic) of 30 May 1988. CND, directed by a board of seven members appointed by the President of the Republic, is placed under the direct supervizing of the Executive. The main task of CND is the coordination of the prevention of drug abuse.
