The club was formed by merging of the "SV Shell Hamburg von 1930 e.V.", the formerly "Sport Verein Rhenania-Ossag Hamburg von 1926" and the
"Betriebssportgemeinschaft RWE-DEA Hamburg e.V.". Both clubs were companies own sports clubs. Both companies were oil-companies. And the "Deutsche Shell AG"
bought the petrol-section of "RWE", the "DEA", successor of "Deutsche Texaco" in maybe 2002.

I have seen another flag hoisted upon the boat-house. I believe it is the company-flag of the "Deutsche Shell AG". The flag is white with a yellow vertical stripe (3-times width) and a vertical red stripe at the hoist and the well-known scallop in the fly.
