Württemberg Civil Flag until c1817
Horizontal black-yellow bicolor. Colors of the arms. In use in the 19th century. Adopted as Landesflagge of Baden-Württemberg 29 September 1954.

Ströhl 1897 [stl97] says that until the adoption of the then (1897) current arms, on 30th December 1817, black and yellow were used as Landesfarben. I wonder whether that implies that from that date the black-dark red colours were used instead.
