It is a black-yellow vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is in a white bannerhead with a black inscription "Schirnding" above the shield.

Shield Or, three cut branches Sable in fess ordered per pale.
Meaning:
The municipality adopted the family arms of the Lords of Schirnding, which is known since 1356. Cut branches in heraldry are symbols of forest clearance. Either by axe or by fire. The lords had been assigned to cut down the forests between Wunsiedel and Eger. They are proven as local rulers since 1377, but probably they had their seat in the area already around 1200.
