Nagel Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a nail Or, tipping onto the central peak of a triplemount Or issuant from base, at dexter Sable a fir Argent, at sinister Azure a bulrush Argent.
Meaning:
The nail (German: Nagel) is a canting element. The bulrush is alluding to the swampy ground and the pond of the local mill. Mount and fir are symbolising the location on the southern edge of the Fichtelgebirge. The region was a possession of the Dukes of Bayern since the 13th century, since 1329 part of the Palatine branch of the Wittelsbach kin. Since the 15th century the influence of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth increased. By a treaty the region was divided in 1536 between the margraves and the dukes. In 1803 the margraves acquired the whole village. In 1810 it became a possession of Bayern..
