Shield Argent, a crossbow Gules in pale.
Meaning:
Meaning:
The crossbow had been a local symbol e.g. on boundary stones at least since 1686. The reasons for this choice are unknown. It was finally adopted as arms by the municipalities. The colours are those of the Counts of Löwenstein, the former rulers.
