The flag in use is horizontally divided blue over yellow with the arms in the middle. Acc. to §2 of the local Hauptsatzung, version 14 October 2014, there is only mentioned a coat of rrms but no official flag.

Shield Argent, two laurel branches Vert in circle and in base crossed per saltire, an inescutcheon Or charged with a lion rampant Sable, issuant from shield a building Gules masoned sable having two spires Sable.
Meaning:
The arms are based on the oldest known city seal from 1477. The arms display a tower, symbol for the fortified city, and a small shield with the arms of Meißen. In 1377 the city was acquired by the Counts of Meißen.
The pattern basically was in use since around 1700. The colours of background and charges changed various times. The addition of the laurel branches most likely is a misinterpretation of the decoration on the oldest seal.
