Shield parted per pale parted abased by a fess wavy parted per pale of Sable and Or; at dexter Argent a patriarchal cross Sable with core Argent,; at sinister Azure above a fleur-de-lis Or and beneath a crescent recumbent Argent.
Meaning:
The patriarchal cross is alluding to the pilgrimage referring to the Holy Cross of Pleß, which is celebrated since the 17th century. The white core of the cross is reminding on the Lower Hospital of Memmingen, which owned estates in Pleß since 1402 and gained complete control over the Lordship of Pleß in 1542. Between 1547 and 1719 the lordship belonged to the Fugger family, represented by the fleur-de-lis. The crescent is taken from the arms of the Charterhouse of Buxheim, which succeeded the family in 1719. The fess wavy is a representation of the Iller River. The tinctures white and blue are those of the Dukes and Electors of Bayern, who had local privileges very early, among those the local cognisance.
