The coat of arms is cotised white-black. The shield is divided by a black, Latin cross patty, which is cotised white in style of an iron cross. The fields 1 and 4 are golden yellow, the fields 2 and 3 are black.
Meaning:
Altshausen was a base of the Teutonic Order from 1268 to 1806 and was the seat of the bailiwick (Ballei) of Elsaß-Schwaben-Burgund since the 15th century. On 19 March 1926 the local council adopted a seal with a cross of the Teutonic Order including a superimposing cross fleury and an inescutcheon displaying the imperial eagle. In 1930 the State Archive recommended the current pattern, which was finally adopted.
