Shield parted by a bend Argent charged with halberd Gules, on dexter base sinister bendy of six of Or and Sable, on sinister chief Azure a lark rising Argent.
Meaning:
The white bend is taken from the arms of the Hauzenstein family, which owned the namesake castle at the end of the 14th century. The lower quarter belongs to the arms of thr Freidl family, who owned the Hauzenstein district (Bavarian: Hofmark) between 1492 and 1758. The lark (German: Lerche) is the canting symbol of the Counts of Lerchenfeld, who ruled Schönberg from 1610 until the middle of the 18th century. The halberd is alluding to the battle of Wenzenbach, which took place on 12 September 1504. The battle ended the War of the Succession of Landshut. It had been the last important battle fought among armies of knights. The tinctures white and blue are alluding to the fact, that the area of the municipality belonged to the Electorate of Bayern, the Electorate of Oberpfalz and the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg as well. All of them had been possessions of the Wittelsbach kin.
