Großeibstadt Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale by a cross staff botonny Or, at dexter parted abased per fess dancetty of Gules and Argent, in dexter chief a bend Argent charged with three annulets Azure; at sinister Azure a wing parted per fess of Argent and Gules.
Meaning:
In 1978 Großeibstadt merged with Kleineibstadt. The cross staff is an attribute of St. John the Baptist. In 1549 Großeibstadt gained a proper parish. The building had been a chapel from the 14th century, dedicated to that saint. The so called Franconian rake in the dexter base is symbolising that the village historically belonged to the Bishopric of Würzburg. The bend with annulets is taken from the arms of the Echter of Mespelbrunn kin. Under the rule of Bishop Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn (1573 - 1617) the local parish church was finished in 1612. The wing is taken from the family arms of the Barons of Münster, who lived in Kleineibstadt since 1554 until the 19th century.
