It is a blue - white - blue vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

In a blue field is a cripple without legs, dressed in a silver (=white) coat, wearing a golden (= yellow) hat and creeping by golden (= yellow) amputation appliances. The cripple is topped by a sinister bendy golden inescutcheon, showing a black bull's head crowned golden (= yellow) and armed silver (=white).
Meaning:
The cripple (German: Krüppel, Lower German: Kröpel) is canting. The village gained city rights in 1240 from Heinrich Borwin III, Lord of Rostock. The city became part of the Lordship of Mecklenburg in 1323 and of the Duchy of Mecklenburg in 1348. This is symbolised by the inescutcheon.

Flag and arms were approved on 8 June 1999 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.66.
