Description of coat of arms:
Shield Argent, raised parted per fess engrailed, an escarbuncle Vert with 12 arms, in chief issuant from line of partition an embattled wall Gules masoned Sable, crowned by a tower of the same.
Meaning:
The embattled wall is alluding to Gnarrenburg castle, which had been erected on the local watershed and had been name giver of the namesake village and later on of the current municipality. The arms of the escarbuncle are representing the 12 villages, which form the municipality.
The arms were approved by Rotenburg an der Wümme County on 24 April 1978. The draft was made by Synold Klein.
