Shield Gules two keys Or in cross with the key pits pointing upwards and to the sinister edge.
Meaning:
The arms already had been granted in the 10th century. It had been the personal arms of Bishop Dietrich of Brandenburg and the arms of the bishopric as well. A seal from the 14th century displayed the same pattern. But the position of the keys changed. A version from the 18th century displays the keys in saltire. Hupp displayed a red shield with silver keys .(see Otto Hupp: "Deutsche Ortswappen", Bremen 1925). The keys are also attributes of St. Peter, the patron saint of the bishopric.

Just to add, in the (current) arms of the bishopric the keys are silver(Argent), not golden.

Flag, banner probably never had been approved officially. The arms were approved on 22 January 1999.
