Johanniskirchen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with base wavy Argent, a fess Argent superimposed by a cross staff fleury issuant Or.
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the Sulzbach, a local creek. The cross staff is an attribute of St. John the Baptist, the local patron saint and name giver of the municipality, and a canting element as well. The fess is taken from the family arms of the Counts of Hals and from those of their commssionaires as well. The commisssionaiares had been members of the Reinold kin from Pörndorf and Guteneck. They played an important role during the 14th century until the beginning of the 15th century.
