According to source The "b" is symbolizing Borchen, the black lines the five mmunicipalities which formed Borchen. The cross symbolizes that the municipality belonged to archbishopric of Paderborn. The head of the "b" is symbolizing the tower of St.Michael's church in former municipality of Kirchborchen. The wavy lines are symbolizing the merging of the creeks Alme and Altenau within the municipality's territory. The information is taken from municipality's website.
