The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a green-white-green horizontal triband with ratio of stripes approx. 2:9:2. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Vert, an annulet Argent, superimposed by four lozenges Argent in saltire.
Meaning:
The four silver diamonds are representing the four former municipalities: Wallenhorst, Hollage, Lechtingen and Rulle. The annulet is referring to the arms of the Bishopric of Osnabrück, which displayed a black wheel, and to which the area historically belonged. The annulet is also a canting symbol for Wallenhorst (= walled village). The four diamonds also create an orbicular cross inside the annulet. This cross is referring to the Saxon Wars and the conversion to Christianity in the early Middle Ages. Green is the colour of the local nature.
The arms were approved in 1973.
