Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a plain white flag with centred arms. A thin yellow trapezium on top of the shield gives the image a slight 3D-effect.

Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules an oak leaf Argent with six bays, at sinister Argent a sinister demi-wheel Gules couped per pale.
Meaning:
The name of the municipality means "hague on the Teutoburg Forest", the oak leaf is thus a canting element, its bays are representing the six former municipalities of Hagen. The wheel is alluding to the fact that Hagen belongs to the Osnabrück County.
