Description of flag:
"Inmitten eines weißen, oben und unten von einem roten Streifen begrenzten Tuches das Gemeindewappen ohne Schild, etwas zur Stange verschoben."
On a white field bounded at the top and bottom by red stripes, the municipal arms without shield, shifted slightly towards the hoist.

Description of Coat of Arms:
"In Silber eine bewurzelte grüne Buche, belegt mit einem goldenen Schild, darin ein abgerissener, rotbewehrter schwarzer Adlerkopf."
Argent a beech vert eradicated, surtout on an inescutcheon or an eagle's head sable armed gules.
The arms are canting, as an "Arn" is an "Adler" , an eagle, and a "Bök" is a "Buche", a beech.

Meaning:
The municipality has its seeds in the appearance of St. Mary, which a pilgrim had watched in an aerie on top of a beech. Thus in 1328 here a chapel had been erected, dedicated to St. Mary, the base of a later established parish. In 1397 an additional monastery of the Carthusian Order was established, which was secularized in 1565 and became a district (Amt) of the dukes of Plön. Ahrensbök gained the rank of a market town in 1829, of a city in 1912, but lost this rank in 1933. This wide spread municipality today has 19 settlement cores, which is probably symbolized by the 19 roots of the beech.

The flag was approved on 24 April 1978. The coat of arms was approved on 15 June 1962. The artist is Wilhelm Horst Lippert from Brunsbüttel.
