Oy-Mittelberg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Gules and Argent, in centre a ball surrounded by a wreath implemented with five heraldic roses, all in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The municipality was established in 1976 by a merger oft he independent municipalities of Mittelberg und Petersthal. Since 1980 the municipality has its current name. Oy belonged to Mittelberg since the 19th century. The arms of both former municipalites also had the tinctures red and white, because they belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg for a long time, from 1351 until 1803.The parted ball from the former Mittelberg arms is taken from the family arms of the Lords of Haslach, name giver of the kin was the namesake village, today a part of Mittelberg. Wreath and roses are taken from the family arms of the Lords of Kranzegg and were also elements of the municipal arms of Petersthal. They had been in service of the Lords of Rettenberg and their arms are canting related to the family name.
