Osterberg Coat of Arms

Shield parted abased per chevron embowed, beneath Azure a fleur-de-lis Argent issuant from a key's knob, above parted per pale, at dexter Or a sinister facing bear rampant Sable, at sinister chequered of eight of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from the family arms of the Mayer of Röfingen kin, local rulers from 1679 until 1816, since 1712 Barons of Osterberg. The chequered quarter is taken from the arms of the Barons of Ponickau, owners of the lower cognisance since 1816. The Malsen-Ponickau branch today is owner of Osterberg Castle. The knob is an attribute of St. Peter, co-patron saint together with St. Paul. The fleur-de-lis is an attribute of St. Mary. Her local pilgrimage church and the sculpture of the Black Madonna are copies of the Casa Santa of Loreto from 1698 and its sculpture.
