Shield parted per fess, above Argent two maces Gules in saltire; beneath Azure a boring head Or.
Meaning:
The maces (literally translated as morning stars) in saltire are reminding on the Battle of Ampfing in 1322. It is considered to be the last battle between armies of knights without using firearms. Ludwig the Bavarian defended his title as a German king successfully against his opponent Friedrich the Pretty<7i> of Austria. The boring head is symbolising the deposits of petroleum oil and gas, which had been exploited and refined between 1953 and the 1980ies. These industries had been an important business line. The tinctures white and blue are those of the Provostry of Au upon Inn, to which the local parish belonged between 1220 and 1803. They are also the tinctures of the Duchy of Bayern, to which Ampfing belonged since the Medieval.

Banner and arms were approved on 4 March 1980 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Oberbayern. Ampfing is the only municipality in Bavaria I encountered where the flag is hoisted continuously (all others just hoist it for holidays and local festivities). They have several flagstaffs at the major road that passes Ampfing, where you can see the municipal flag and the Bavarian flag.
